Shifting waste transport from road to water can significantly reduce carbon emissions, helping clients meet their environmental goals. According to the European Commission, CO2 emissions for loads by inland waterways range between 40 to 66g per tonne/km, compared to 207 to 280g for road transport.

Moving Over 1,300 Tonnes of Waste for Camden Market
Camden Market, situated conveniently along Regent’s Canal, has embraced this greener solution. We transport their waste out of London by water, using barges and tugs, to our recycling facility. This not only reduces traffic but also helps lower Camden Market’s carbon footprint.
Our long barges can carry up to 70 tonnes of mixed waste at a time to our recycling centre. There, the waste is processed at a state-of-the-art MRF (Material Recycling Facility), recovering approximately 72% as clean recyclable materials, while the remaining 28% is used for energy recovery, ensuring zero waste goes to landfill. Our recycling plant’s location along the canal allows us to transport waste via both water and road, reinforcing our commitment to reducing road travel and cutting emissions.
Our tugs, powered by 100% recycled hydrated vegetable oil, offer a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions, making us leaders in green transport. In one trip, we can move 18 times more waste than a 3.5-tonne lorry.
For waste that cannot be fully recycled due to contamination—such as food waste, wet paper, or other materials— it is processed as refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and used to generate district heating, ensuring zero reliance on landfills.

Sustainable Procurement
We only source environmentally friendly enzyme and plant-based cleaning products that don’t cause damage to the environment. The paper products we use are from sustainable forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or 100% recycled.
Sustainable Innovations
We display unique QR codes within our cleaning storerooms that are clearly visible and easy to use. Once scanned by any smart phone, the information provided includes the cleaning specification for each location, COSHH data, Product Safety Data Sheets for each product on site, Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all tasks.
Electric Vehicles
We have moved 80% of our current vehicles over to electric. These vehicles are used by our specialist cleaning divisions, such as window cleaning and estate cleaning. This will soon rise to 100%. We also insist that our partners adopt the same policy.
Apprenticeship Scheme
